SITTINGS

Usually four.

I ask clients to sit for the first session of 2.5 hours while I make drawings to study the face and characteristic movements and postures. At the second sitting of 2 to 3 hours, I begin the painting on canvas. At this time I take photographs to use as notes. At the end of the third sitting I am about 75% finished. The fourth sitting should be the last, after which I no longer need the client to sit. The process takes from 3 to 6 weeks depending on the client’s availability.  Portraits on paper require one sitting.

PORTRAITS FROM OLD FAMILY PHOTOS

I like to meet with clients, look at photos and talk about the people in the pictures. I want to know what is especially important and meaningful, points that will make my finished painting unique, personal and precious.

COSTS

Portraits on paper   $1,000 – 3,000

Oil Portraits are priced according to the size of the canvas and the number of figures in the painting:

15” or less                  $1,000 – 3,500
40” or less                  $6,000 – 8,000
Full-length, 72” h       $10,000 – 15,000

Vegetable Paintings  $1,000 – 5,000
